I guess I have a blind spot

A part of my post here about Drupal is quoted on a BlogHer post about the lack of women at the latest DrupalCon in Boston. It’s all because I left a comment on Shelley Powers’ site. Rats, I need to hide more.

I’m just kidding, sort of. But that whole discussion of why there aren’t enough women at tech conferences….which has been going on for years now…hits me in a blind spot.

I don’t get the fuss. I don’t really see why gender has to do with of all things, a blog/CMS platform choice, even though I know that pushing the female agenda, as it were, is part of what BlogHer is about.

Tweaking a Drupal site

After having wrestled with MovableType (and Typepad), skirted around WordPress, and dipped my toe in, and out of, ExpressionEngine, I am now quite happily esconced in the land of Drupal for most of my sites, including this one. The busiest one of those administered and published by me is Just Hungry. I spent the weekend tweaking it under the hood, as well as giving it a visual facelift.

My food blog as a blog lab, part 2: Advertising, monetization, ethics and such

Back in early November, I wrote about using my food blog, Just Hungry, as a lab or experimental platform for operating a monetized, sort-of-commercial, blog.

Since then I have put some more effort into deriving an income from Just Hungry. Here are some of my observations and such.

Woohoo, new site finally

After long weeks of creating and discarding several designs (mainly at the scribble stage), getting distracted with other things, and fiddling around with various blogging systems and CMSes and so on, the site is reborn.
